Southern Maine Community College continues its commitment to bringing composites education and training to the Maine Advanced Technology Center. And, SMCC is looking forward to transitioning from the MATC's current facility, at the old Times Record Building, to the Brunswick Naval Air Station in 2010.
"The contribution of the MATC and its staff continues to be important to the growth of the composites industry in Maine," said Steve Von Vogt, Executive Director of the Maine Composites Alliance. "We understand and support SMCC's continued commitment to the advancement of training in our state, which ultimately helps the many Maine composite companies grow and flourish."

MCA, the University of Maine engineering department, SMCC and MATC are partnering to explore possible engineering training programs at the Brunswick Naval Air Station. Currently, the MATC is scheduled to transition to BNAS in September of 2010. In the meantime, the Maine Advanced Technology Center continues to provide composites training in the MidCoast region.
